Cappadocia is a historical region in central Turkey, home to some of the earliest civilizations in human history. This ancient land has many historical sites, including rock churches and monasteries carved into the cliffs of volcanic tuff. Cappadocia was also home to many different cultures throughout time, including the Hittites and Assyrians. The Roman Empire conquered it as well as other civilizations that used this land as their main trade route because it was located between Asia Minor and Syria
